Lettuce:
Wash lettuce in cold water with some salt in (will help to remove slugs and that from the leaves... yuk)
Lettuce likes to live in the fridge, but not in plastic.
When you get a new lettuce, wash it straight away (in salty water) then dry as best you can, then wrap in a tea towel and put in fridge. It's nice so you have lettuce ready for whenever you need it.
Vinegar:
Spray vinegar on to food spilt onto the hob BEFORE it goes cold. Then leave it, then it'll wipe off the next day.
Carrots:
Carrots tast nicer in sticks, rather than rounds.
Veg (general):
Once you've drained your veggies, throw them back in the pan with a little butter, salt and pepper, lemon juice and / or balsamic vinegar. And seeds, if you have.
Roast potatoes:
Always take longer than you think they will and are never as nice as your mums.
